Bio: Dexter moved to Spokane in 1990 and became a member of Central United Methodist Church for 8 years and was involved when Shalom Ministries started in 1994. A retired Insurance Agency owner, he is currently a property manager and real estate investor. Married with three children, Dexter loves working on houses and outdoor activities.

Bio: Nancy retired from Whitworth University in 2016 and volunteers at Shalom’s Monday dinners. She has volunteered at HRC and Second Harvest. She serves on the board of Wandemere Christian Pre-School and is active at Covenant UMC.

Bio: In 2020 Kurt retired from his career as manager of an agrichemical facility in Ephrata, WA and moved to Spokane. Kurt is a graduate of the UW. After college he spent three years as director of a wilderness camping program for Young Life. He has served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Kurt serves many roles during Shalom’s meal ministries.


Kurt is married to Diane with three children.

Bio: Mike is an attorney practicing at Etter, McMahon, Lamberson, and Van Wert, and Oreskovich in Spokane Washington. Mike has also served as the City Attorney for the City of Spokane, and the City of Spokane Valley, as chair and member of the Public Disclosure Commission and the Executive Ethics Board for the State of Washington. Mike has received the Ernest H. Campbell Lifetime Achievement Award from the Washington State Association of Municipal Attorneys. Published writings include Washington Practice volume 36 “Washington Land Use”, a novel entitled “Mountain Lyrics” and a book of Poetry entitled “The Corner Room”. Mike has been a volunteer for Shalom Ministries since 2023.

Bio: John was raised in Spokane, a 1960 graduate of Shadle Park High School. He then earned a degree in mechanical engineering at Washington State University, and worked for NASA, first at an aerodynamics research facility in Virginia and then as a member of the Apollo manned lunar landing team in Houston, Texas. From there, he became involved in mass transportation, first with the Federal government and then the private sector; designing and building rapid transit systems in the US and abroad. Upon retiring, he and his wife moved back to Spokane. John is on the Board of Trustees for Rockwood Retirement Communities, having served as Board Chair and now on several committees. In addition, he is Vice Chair of the Transportation Advisory Committee of the Spokane Regional Transportation Council. John attends Manito United Methodist Church, serving as chair of the governing council. John has been involved with Shalom for a number of years, having in the past served on the dinner line; John joined the Shalom Board of Directors in 2025.

John and his wife, Sindra, have two sons and four grandchildren.

Bio: Retired as a project manager from Groom Construction Company in 2021 with 22 years of service and over 40 years as a general contractor. Moved to Spokane in fall of 2024 and began volunteering at Shalom Ministries Dining with Dignity. Tim became a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in the spring of 2025. Tim and his wife, Mary, have two adult children.

Bio: Noah is originally from Connecticut and has lived in Spokane since 2025. He has had a career in medical writing since 2005 and started serving in community food programs in 2017. Noah joined Shalom as a chaplaincy intern with the Dining with Dignity program during the summer of 2025 and returned as a volunteer afterwards.

Bio: Steve was born, raised and educated in Montana and later at Gonzaga Law School.  A retired attorney, he’s married to Cathii and has two adult sons and three granddaughters. Currently a member of St. Mark’s Church Council, he’s volunteered for other agencies and outreach programs, including All Saint’s Lutheran Soup & Supper.

Bio: Dave moved to Spokane in 1993, where he and his wife raised their family in Mead. During those years, he dedicated countless hours with his kids in coaching youth sports, guided by his personal motto: “Have fun, get sweaty, and treat one another with respect.”

Now as an empty nester living in Kendall Yards, Dave is embracing the next chapter of his life—serving the Spokane community and living out Christ’s calling to care for those in need. Dave spent over 26 years with Itron, gaining deep experience in the utility and energy sectors, including work focused on government funding, equity, and community engagement. He now leads his own consulting business and volunteering helping communities, companies and organizations access funding and solutions that promote affordability, sustainability and compassion.
